TRADITIONAL WOOD DECKING

There are many options for traditional wood decking including conventional green treat and cedar lumber. Many people choose traditional wood decking for it’s aesthetic value, as well as the craftsman flexibility in creating detailed shapes and patterns.

Pressure-treated wood, which is most commonly used in decking, is wood that has been pre-treated for increased resistance to moisture and the elements. The most common woods that are pressure treated and used for decks include spruce, pine, and southern yellow pine. Pressure-treated wood is an affordable option, although not foolproof in the long term- you will still need to treat your decking with a stain or water repellent upon installation and then once every year.

Cedar is a most popular natural wood option when designing a deck because of its rich finish and full-bodied color. It’s often times a larger investment to go with cedar over pressure-treated wood but its popularity is undeniable with this warm and lovely wood for your deck. It also requires that it be stained yearly if you don’t want it to turn grey which is its natural and maintenance free look.

PVC & WOOD COMPOSITE

The benefits of PVC decking make it an optimal choice for longer lasting, lower maintenance all weather outdoor living space. Wood-plastic composite decking and PVC decking is designed to stand up to the elements, allowing it to maintain its beauty for years. There is no need to paint, stain or seal it, which is often a burdensome yearly project with traditional wood decks. And, because it resists most weathering, warping, and bugs, you won’t find it necessary to replace rotting, uneven, or insect-damaged boards. Unlike many traditional wood decks, wood-plastic composite decks are splinter-free and slip-resistant, making your home a little safer for bare feet, small children and pets.

The Benefits of PVC & Wood Composite Decking Products:

  • Stain & Scratch Resistant
  • Split Resistant
  • Mold & Mildew Resistant
  • Durable & Long-lasting
  • Moisture Resistant
  • Insect Resistant
  • Many offer limited lifetime warranties
